Yumurta Sanatı Atölyesi is a unique workshop in Gölbaşı where the art of eggshell carving is kept alive. Master craftsman Hamit Hayran has spent over thirty years piercing paper-thin eggshells one hole at a time, transforming them into lace-fine patterns, portraits and calligraphy motifs.
In the workshop, each piece takes shape as the hollowed-out shell is worked in stages with fine micro-motor tips; compositions made up of thousands of tiny holes take on an entirely different depth when lit from within. On shells of different sizes, from chicken eggs to ostrich eggs, nature motifs, portraits of Atatürk and Rumi, and calligraphic and geometric ornamentation come to life. As the first Turkish craftsman registered in the World Egg Art Encyclopedia, Master Hamit both exhibits and teaches this rare craft.
At the workshop on the walking path of Gölbaşı Atatürk Sahil Parkı, guests can witness the intricacies of this fragile art and also enjoy a pleasant chat with the master.

Yes. Our guests can drop by the workshop and join in Master Hamit's warm conversation; visitors speak highly of the attention they receive and the pleasant time they spend.
Do you teach the art of egg carving?
Yes. Master Hamit passes on the intricacies of this craft to visitors and students through hands-on instruction.
Can we touch the pieces on display?
Since the pieces are extremely fragile, they are displayed under glass domes and visitors are asked not to touch them; you're welcome to examine them closely.
